Egg Freezing

The number of eggs reduces as a woman ages, so does the quality of her eggs. Egg freezing is the most empowering step women can take to strike a balance between continuing their education and career and yet not miss out on having a family when they choose.

In the last ten years, egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation) technique has improved a lot. This has improved the chance of eggs surviving the freezing process and resulting in higher rate of eggs surviving after they are thawed. They are also more likely to make healthy embryos and thus more pregnancies. The only hitch is the price of egg freezing!

Egg freezing has always been prohibitively expensive. Ezee Fertility now offers egg freezing affordable and thus accessible to all women. Our egg freezing programme “Ezee Freezee”will typically cost about £2600 if your ovarian reserves are good.

HOW IT WORKS

Women may choose to delay having a child for any reason. But with egg freezing on offer, they now have a real choice of not compromising on their fertility.
You can now freeze eggs around the age of 30-35 (can be earlier or even later) and then take their time deciding on when to have a child. It means that should there be a problem in conceiving naturally, later on, women are assured that eggs they froze when they were younger are still waiting without ageing.

Eggs frozen at a young age will preserve their quality and the risk of having abnormalities such as Down’s syndrome (and other abnormalities) using frozen eggs will be that of the age of freezing.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The treatment takes less than 2 weeks; the maximum time off work will not be more than 2 days.

There are several stages to the Egg Freezing treatment. All consultations and scans during the treatment can be done at your local Ezee Fertility clinic. However the Egg Collection and actual freezing of eggs are “regulated” activities, and will be performed at our primary HFEA licensed centre: Acorn Fertility SW19 2EZ (HFEA License No 0391)

Cost of Egg Freezing

Typically, the cost of this treatment (in London clinics) ranges between £3000 to £4000 plus the cost of medicines. At Ezee Fertility, we freeze eggs at the price of £2600 excluding the cost of medicines, which varies due to the patient’s age and fertility reserve.

The annual storage charge will be discussed during the consultation before signing up for the treatment. It is typically £250 per year (irrespective of the number of eggs you’ve frozen) but it can be cheaper if you store for longer periods of time.
